Winter on The Isle of Harris is Worth a Second Visit

Quiet beaches, snow-dusted hills and a log burner waiting back at the house. Here's why winter is a lovely time to stay at Baile An Or.

Winter on the Isle of Harris is special. The scenery, when the sun shines, is gorgeous, the beaches of Luskentyre and Scarista with crisp white sand, turquoise water, and a backdrop of snow-dusted Harris hills without summer crowds.

Going into Tarbert and visiting the distillery is another great thing to do on these winter days, for a warming dram of local single malt whisky or Harris gin by a peat fire.

Relaxing in the house is my favourite thing though, curling up on the chairs which just consume you, reading a book and feeling the warmth of the log burner on your feed, it is truly special. Then going outside all cosied up in warm layers and walking around the landscape which looks so vastly different to the summer, you may just have to come twice. Baking a storm in our brilliant kitchen, scones, strudels, crumbles, that oven has made it all through our family dinners, there is just nowhere like it for spending time with the ones you love.

We still have availability for this winter, those of you with no plans and holidays still to take, this could be the perfect way to spend it. We also accept short stays through this period so would be delighted to have you at Baile An Or!
